Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL), formerly Hospital Besar Kuala Lumpur, is Malaysia's largest public hospital, established in 1870 under the Ministry of Health. Spanning 150 acres, it has more than 2,300 beds (including 79 ICU beds) and 51 operating theatres across 27 clinical and 18 clinical-support departments covering some 150 specialties and sub-specialties, and serves as the national referral and teaching centre for the Klang Valley.
